Fragrance Oils Fixative FLPI 55291 B2B ManufacturingWhat Is a Laundry Perfume?
A laundry perfume is a fragrance product designed to scent textiles during the washing process. Unlike laundry detergents, its primary purpose is not to remove dirt; unlike fabric softeners, it does not necessarily provide a softening effect. The resulting fragrance intensity and longevity depend on the fragrance composition, carrier, fabric type, washing program, and drying conditions.
Fragrance Selection
Choose a fragrance composition suitable for the intended application in laundry perfumes.
Fragrance Fixation
FLPI 55291 is a specialized ingredient for formulating laundry perfumes.
Your Own Product
Verify the stability, safety, and performance of the mixture before placing it on the market.
40% Fragrance Composition + 60% FLPI 55291
A starting ratio for laboratory testing, calculated by weight. This is not a universal formulation approved for all fragrance oils, fabrics, or washing machines.
| Test Batch Size | Fragrance Composition | FLPI 55291 |
|---|---|---|
| 100 g | 40 g | 60 g |
| 500 g | 200 g | 300 g |
| 1,000 g | 400 g | 600 g |
| 5,000 g | 2,000 g | 3,000 g |
The 40/60 ratio is a suggested starting point for testing. The specific concentration must be verified according to the documentation of the selected fragrance and the properties of the finished mixture. Grams cannot automatically be converted into milliliters.
How to Prepare a Test Batch
Select a Fragrance
Check its suitability for laundry applications and the relevant safety documentation.
Weigh the Ingredients
Weigh the fragrance composition and fixative separately according to the selected ratio.
Mix Thoroughly
Mix the ingredients in a clean, suitable container until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Test the Mixture
Check its appearance, stability, fabric compatibility, and resulting fragrance performance.
How to Evaluate Fragrance Longevity
For comparable results, we recommend testing on cotton as well as blended or synthetic fabrics. Use the same washing program, laundry load, temperature, and drying method for each test.
After Drying
Evaluate the intensity and character of the fragrance on dry textiles.
After 24 Hours
Compare the change in fragrance intensity with the initial evaluation.
After 72 Hours
Assess fragrance persistence and any changes in the fabric.
Testing should also include a control sample without laundry perfume and checks for stains, deposits, or color changes. To substantiate claims about the fixative's performance, compare formulations with and without the fixative.
How to Use a Laundry Perfume
The dosing method must correspond to the specific finished formulation and the washing machine manufacturer's instructions. Certain automatic dosing systems may have restrictions. A universal dosage in milliliters cannot be safely established for all products.
Documentation and EU Regulatory Requirements for Manufacturers
IFRA
Check the restrictions applicable to the specific fragrance composition for its intended use.
CLP and Labeling
Determine the classification, hazard pictograms, and required label information for the finished mixture.
UFI and Notifications
A UFI code and poison centre notification may be required depending on the classification of the finished product.
Documentation supplied for individual raw materials does not automatically replace the documentation required for the final product.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Any Fragrance Oil Be Used?
Not automatically. The intended application, documentation, concentration limits, and compatibility with the fixative must be verified. For fragrance selection, we recommend our DBB fragrance range.
Why Use Fixative FLPI 55291?
It is a specialized ingredient designed for the development of laundry perfumes. Its actual contribution to fragrance intensity and longevity must be verified through comparative testing of the specific formulation.
Is the 40/60 Ratio Mandatory?
No. It is a starting ratio for testing. The optimal formulation depends on the selected fragrance, resulting stability, and product requirements.
Is Laundry Perfume the Same as Fabric Softener?
No. Laundry perfume is primarily intended to fragrance textiles, while fabric softener is mainly used to modify the properties of fabrics.
Is the Mixture Ready for Sale Immediately After Mixing?
Not without further verification. Before placing the product on the market, its safety, stability, correct labeling, and applicable regulatory obligations must be assessed.
